Scott Palermo

Managing Broker & Principal

For Scott Palermo, awards and recognition are benefits of hard work, but not its goal. “The goal,” he says, “is always to get the best possible results for our clients.” Widely respected among his colleagues and clients, Scott has built an outstanding reputation as a focused listener, skilled negotiator, astute business strategist and key advisor.

Scott spent seven years developing an extensive real estate client base in West Hollywood, the Hollywood Hills and Beverly Hills before transferring his successful business model to the Palm Springs-Coachella Valley area, in 2006. His current and past clients include numerous celebrities and entertainment industry executives. In addition, Scott´s professional connections and strategic relationships in West Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, La Jolla/San Diego and New York City provide a constant stream of referrals that benefit his Southern California clients.

Representing sellers and buyers for more than 16+ years, Scott continually builds and shares his extensive knowledge of the real estate marketplace, finance, and the region´s distinctive architecture. A licensed Broker in California, Scott holds a B.A. in Chemistry and M.B.A. with an emphasis in Marketing from Texas Christian University.

Jim Sanak

REALTOR® & Principal

Known as a skilled marketer, a strong negotiator and an expert on home staging, Jim emphasizes the importance of understanding and meeting the client´s needs. “We believe in building long-term relationships with our clients, and that includes showing them how to create wealth in real estate-in all market conditions.”A native of Michigan, Jim earned his B.A. from Michigan State University. Prior to entering real estate, Jim enjoyed a successful career in corporate sales and marketing, including a sales executive position with the IBM Corporation.

Brian Rix

Principal

Brian brings a long list of accomplishments and experiences to his new partnership at Harcourts Desert Homes. He has been involved with numerous real estate transactions, owned and ran a large talent agency and is currently the senior partner in Burke Rix Communications, a strategic communications and marketing firm based in Palm Springs, California.

Realizing that the marketing of residential real estate is now more than ever tied to marketing and public relations Brian brings those skills as a Principal and owner of Harcourts Desert Homes.

Brian started his career as an attorney and quickly moved into show business. He was one of the founding partners of Joseph, Heldfond & Rix, Inc. one of the largest talent agencies in the commercial arena. Brian paired Mariette Hartley with Polaroid, Mark Harmon with Coors and Patrick Swayze with Pepsi. He orchestrated John Travolta’s Japanese commercial deal with Dentsu Advertising. Rix went on to produce feature films Sioux City with Lou Diamond Phillips and Precious Find with Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen.

After selling the agency, Brian became involved in political campaigns, fundraising, public relations and special events as the founder of Rix Bradford Consulting. He has done extensive work in the education, energy, corporate and political and real estate arenas.

Brian is very active with the State Community College system. He assisted former Chancellor Mark Drummond in passing a $1 billion dollar construction bond and 3 years later an additional $3.5 billion for construction projects at the Los Angeles Community College District.

Rix has also had extensive experience in event planning and the hospitality industry. He has had contracts with LA, Inc., the Convention and Visitors Bureau and the San Diego Convention and Visitor Bureau. He was tapped by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to produce his inaugural ball, which was one of the largest political events in Los Angeles history. He also produced the United States Conference of Mayors, which was hosted in Los Angeles in June 2007. He was responsible for four huge consecutive evening events and managed a 1.8 million dollar event budget. The inaugural event featured performer Natalie Cole with a follow-on event featuring Melissa Etheridge. Through his years of working in politics, Rix has developed extensive contacts in the political arena at the Federal, State and local levels.

Brian plays a strong role in local Coachella Valley civic affairs. He sits on the Citizens Advisory Panel for Southern California Edison, Board of Directors of the Coachella Valley Economic Partnership and is the Board Chair of the LGBT Community Center of the Desert. Brian’s firm Burke Rix Communications is active in supporting local and countywide candidates as well as many local charities and maintains a strong network of contacts throughout the entire Coachella Valley as well as the State of California.

Josh Zpperman

Principal

Josh is the “millennial” face of Harcourts Desert Homes and actively co-manages all marketing, social media and public relations efforts for the brokerage. He is also a Senior Associate at Burke Rix Communications, serving as a project manager and active contributor on several of the firm’s accounts. He is currently working on the community outreach and social media efforts for the CV Link project and has the primary responsibility for producing the Southern California Energy + Water Summit. Josh is experienced in all aspects of marketing and advertising including PR, print, web, direct marketing, electronic, outdoor, events, digital, new and social media.

Developing an early interest in public affairs, Josh began his career as intern for Los Angeles City Councilmember Laura Chick while in high school. During his years as a undergrad at UCLA, Josh fell under the wing of Brian Rix and began working on the political fundraising campaigns of Governor Gray Davis, Los Angeles County Sherriff Lee Baca, Los Angeles City Councilmember Tom LaBonge and the Los Angeles Community College District to name a few.

In 2008, Josh moved to the desert to help launch the Coachella Valley office of Burke Rix Communications, a government affairs, marketing, public relations, and event management firm in Palm Springs, California. Establishing his expertise in crafting strategies, he was successful in leading Safeway Vons to significant victory on a number of land use and entitlement issues throughout the Valley. Josh has also had an integral hand in the development, marketing and management of the Southern California Energy Summit, Modern Living Expo, and Measure J campaign for the City of Palm Springs.

Josh is a graduate of Leadership Coachella Valley and serves as second Vice President on the board of directors of the Mizell Senior Center in addition to being a member of the Palm Desert Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee. In October of 2014, he was named by Palm Springs Life magazine as one of the 40 under 40 leaders of the Coachella Valley. Josh lives in Palm Springs with his wife Adia and their son Flynn.
